I understand how you feel, because this was how I felt too.
Security was always not on my list as generally, I stay in a country that is considered the safest place in the world. But there is a saying, "Low risk doesn't mean no risk". I only truly understand it when I joined the Singapore Police Force back in 1995. I handled cases like drugs addicts, possession of weapons, rioting, affray, and many other incidents. Being a ground officer was really a great experience for me back in my service in the force. I was also lucky to have my next posting to Security Branch (SB) in 2000 and honor to service many VIPs and Cabinet Ministers. I ended my VIP Protection service in 2012 and my last posting was with the Security & Counter-Terrorism Department.
